| SONIA ANGEL, MS, RD, CDE I am originally from Colombia where I studied Nutrition & Dietetics at the Universidad Javeriana. Later completed my Master’s of Science at the U. of Toronto in Canada. There I participated as a research assistant in projects with Diabetes, preterm infants, and nutrition. I worked as an Assistant professor in Bogota at the Javeriana University in Clinical Nutrition and served as a judge and supervisor in pre-graduate thesis. In 1999, moved to S,Fla. Where I worked as a Clinical Dietitian at Jackson Memorial Hospital. I became a Certified Diabetes Educator in 2004, and since Feb. 2005 have been the Coordinator of the Diabetes & Nutrition Center at Memorial Hospital Pembroke. I am involved in the community giving lectures and have been invited numerous times for local TV and media interviews on Nutrition topics. I am currently the President of SFADE. I am fully bilingual in English and Spanish and also speak and understand French. I have two sons, 15 and 10 and my other job is being a soccer MOM! |

| Reggie Shagoury, MBA, RD, LD/N I currently work for the Florida Department of Health. I have been working for the Department's Women, Infant, and Children Program for over 8 years. The majority of my diabetes consultation involves women with Gestational, Type 1, or Type 2 diabetes. I have also consulted parents with children less than 5 years of age who have Type 1 diabetes. My goal is to become Certified in Diabetes education and I am currently working on accumulating enough practice hours to sit for the exam. |
| Judi Wilcox, RD, CDE I am a Certified Diabetes Educator. I was born in Detroit, Michigan and graduated from University of New Mexico. After practicing as a nutritionist in private practice in Phoenix, Arizona I worked in print and media as a Food Stylist. When I moved to Hollywood, FL. I became a Certified Diabetes Educator. My experience includes 25 years as a nutritionist and 15 years as a Certified Diabetes Educator. I am nicknamed the Minister of Diabetes by my patients for my passion and motivation to empower lives. Currently I am working as a Diabetes Nutrition Specialist at the Diabetes and Nutrition Center of Memorial Regional Hospital, an accredited diabetes education program in Hollywood, FL. I am the past-President and leader for South Florida Association of Diabetes Educators. I have planned and organized many events in South Florida to promote diabetes education, including working on Divabetic a diabetes expo to educate and empower women with diabetes. I have appeared on local news and radio stations as an expert in the field of diabetes. My knowledge and experiences have helped to motivate people with diabetes to improve their outcomes. My dedication to friends and family has helped to shape lives. |
| Janice Nadeau, RN, BSN, CCM, CDE I am originally from a small town in New Jersey, outside of Philadelphia. I attended Jefferson Medical College Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia right out of high school. It was a 3 year diploma program. I moved to Florida in 1969 and then went to the University of Miami where I received my BSN. I have worked in many different areas of nursing. I became a certified case manager (CCM) in 1992. Then in 1999, I worked on a program case managing people with diabetes who were on Medicaid. This gave me the experience and the hours I needed to take the exam to become a CDE. I became certified in 2004. In 2007, I attained a full time position as a diabetic educator at West Boca Medical Center. I do the DSME program, in-house education, and also work ½ days in our endocrinologist’s office. Prior to this position, I taught the DSME program part time for a medical supply company. I am a widow and have a son who will be graduating from law school this year. I am proud to be the current treasurer of the SFADE. |
| Marry Tozzo, MSN, RN, CMSN, OCN, CDE I was born and raised in Massachusetts. I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Saint Joseph College in West Hartford Connecticut in 1981. I worked at Hartford Hospital in Hartford Connecticut for 2 years as charge nurse on a 20 bed oncology unit. I moved to Florida in 1983, when I started working at Parkway Regional Medical Center in North Miami Beach as a staff nurse. Over the years I worked as relief charge and assisted with education and orientation of staff. I still work at the same facility, which was purchased by the Jackson Health System in 2006 and renamed Jackson North Medical Center. I am now the Clinical Educator for a 68 bed Medical-Surgical Unit, which houses medical, surgical, endocrine, and oncology patients. I am also the Diabetes Educator for the Jackson North facility (392 beds). I earned my Master of Science Degree in 2003 from Barry University in Miami Springs, Florida. In 2007 I was Jackson North’s Advance Practice Nurse of the Year and published an article in Nursing 2007 on obesity management. I have been a Certified Medical-Surgical Nurse since 1986, an Oncology Certified Nurse since 1993, and a Certified Diabetes Educator since 1995. I am married. I have one beautiful intelligent niece that I am immensely proud of. |

| Denise Harwin, RPh, CPh, CGP, CDE I am a Registered Pharmacist and Certified Diabetes Educator as well as a licensed Consultant Pharmacist and Certified Geriatric Pharmacist. Born in New York, grew up in Puerto Rico and moved to Florida in 1981. I am fully bilingual in English and Spanish and fluent in French. A proud University of Florida, College of Pharmacy 1985 graduate – Go Gators! I have worked as a retail pharmacist for the Walgreen Company for over 24 years ever since graduating from pharmacy school. I am a Pharmacy Manager also currently heading a satellite unit in Boca Raton of the Diabetes Outreach Clinic, an ADA accredited diabetes education program offering one on one, private diabetes education consultations. My late diabetic grandmother has always been the drive behind my commitment and passion for diabetes education. Having seen the toll that the complications from diabetes took on her is what motivates me to empower patients through education to have better outcomes. I am married to Bruce, also a pharmacist and have 2 very special teenagers, Rachel, 19, a sophomore at Florida State University and Michael, 18, a senior in high school. |
